LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins Alumni Association will host the 58th Annual Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon Presented by GCO Consulting Group at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 12 – 2 p.m.
This event heralds the beginning of the 2019 Redskins season
and is the only event where fans and corporate partners have the opportunity to
spend time with the entire Washington Redskins organization, including players,
coaches, cheerleaders and alumni. Fans can welcome the team back from Training
Camp, pay tribute to milestones achieved on and off the field, and raise money
to support youth programs across the region.
This year’s event will feature Academy Award™ Winning Actor
and founder of the just keep livin Foundation Matthew McConaughey as a special
guest. McConaughey will take part in a Q&A with event emcee Lindsay
Czarniak to share his Redskins fandom and discuss the connection between the
Redskins Charitable Foundation and just keep livin.
The Redskins Community Man of the Year Award presented by
The Embassy of the State of Qatar honors one player for their involvement in
the community. The 2018 award recipient, tight end Vernon Davis, has supported
a variety of events and activities through the team, his own foundation and the
events of his teammates. Being from the D.C. area, his hometown connection
makes his impact even greater.
The Redskins Salute Award presented by Texas Oil Group
honors one player or community member for their support of our U.S. military
members and their families. This year’s award recipient, defensive lineman
Jonathan Allen, comes from a military family – his father and uncle served in
the army, while his two brothers serve in the military. Introducing Allen will
be celebrity chef, veteran and military advocate, Chef Andre Rush.
Three Redskins players will also be honored at the event for
their efforts on the field with the following 2018 season awards. The Sam Huff
Defensive Player of the Year Award presented by Trustar Bank, the Bobby
Mitchell Offensive Player of the Year Award, and the Mark Moseley Special Teams
Player of the Year Award presented by Five Guys.
Returning as the presenting sponsor of the Welcome Home
Luncheon for a second consecutive year is GCO Consulting Group. Owned and
operated by veterans, the Northern Virginia-based consulting firm supports
charitable efforts year-round through partnerships with the Washington Redskins
Charitable Foundation, Bourbiz and Veterans Success Resource Group.
Multiple Redskins Alumni will be at the event to help
present awards including Dexter Manley, Charles Mann, Mark Moseley, Brig Owens,
and Clinton Portis.
